December HDR One Mag

It’s ready for for download

download the HDR One MagI am not sure if you know, but I am a regular contributor to the HDRONE.com (HDR One) online magazine. Each month the magazine is available in a downloadable version that you can read on your electronic device, or you can just print it out.

It is a great magazine, not just for HDR fans, but anyone who enjoys the art of photography… so feel free to download it for yourself (Just click on the Magazine Cover to go to the Download Page)

This month includes interviews with Elia Locardi and Conor MacNeill, we also have an exclusive article from Scott Frederick about the contents of his camera bag – none of which has been published on the HDR One website.

And the very talented designer, Nikola Totuhov, has taken time out of his very busy schedule to give the downloadable magazine a sexy new look. And you will find a review of some HDR software from yours truly too!

We also have the usual collection of awesome HDR tips and photos. You can download it here.

Today’s iCandy – Long Jetty

This is Long Jetty on the Central Coast. This sunset was so good, in fact one of the best I have had the pleasure of photographing. We don’t have too many places around Sydney where I can shoot the sunset over water, Long Jetty is one of the few…

As beautiful as this spot is, you’re lucky that smell is not conveyed through photo’s… this is long Jetty, one of my favourite sunset locations, the only downside is that the lake smells a little!

The Boatshed

You must have a really good camera…

I hear it a lot… I don’t get offended by it, I just find it amusing! I know that if I was to use the same oven as the most famous chef in the world I wouldn’t come close to producing the same result. I saw this some time ago on someone else’s blog and thought it was very clever…

the daily pic – The Boatshed

Last time I was at Long Jetty the sunset was spectacular! I wanted to head back to capture the boatshed and the other long jetty… whilst the sunset was no where near as good as last time, it was still nice, I love the glow that comes right after the sun dips below the horizon…

Golden Jetty

My D700 is SOLD

wow… I put my D700 on eBay and couldn’t believe how many people were interested in it, obviously it is still a very sought after full frame camera! It is going to sound kind of sad, but I found it hard to put it on eBay and  deep down was hoping no one would want it… then I would have to keep it! It was my first full frame camera and now that I have upgraded to the D800 the bank needed some cash in… too much cash out is a problem!

The buyer of the D700 is getting  a solid camera with a low shutter count, if you’re in the market for a well looked after DSLR my D300 is also on eBay. It has a lower shutter count of 9500 and has been looked after by me! I bought it from Harvey Norman for nearly $3k! So it is a bargain for the lucky buyer…

Living on the east coast of Australia means that sun sets over water are harder to come by than sun rising over the horizon in the mornings… Long Jetty is a well photographed location for this reason, as it faces the west and has, as the name implies, a very long jetty! On this particular day the colours kept changing and I took a lot of shots, this is one of my favourites… enjoy!

Forever Jetty

A night at Vivid Sydney

Last night I headed into the City to check out the Vivid Sydney light display. It is very cleverly done and I am sure someone has spent hours and hours to design and develop it. It was actually really hard to capture in a picture as everything about it keeps moving… fast (not great for sharp night time photography!) Having said that, the modern camera is a very capable tool and I did manage to get a few great shots… keep an eye on the blog in the coming days as I process them.

A jetty makes a picture… without it, this would just be the sun setting over the lake… with it, it is transformed into the never ending jetty that leads you into an amazing sunset… enjoy!
